Manipal Cure and Care wins the Most Admired Retailer of the Year - Innovative Retail Concept, 2008

Forms new company with Rs. 50 crore investment for healthcare retailing First two outlets in Bangalore and AhmedabadWorking with Australian Standards of Healthcare BANGALORE: The Manipal Group is entering the healthcare retail business under the Manipal Cure and Care brand. A new company formed for this purpose, with an initial investment of Rs. 50 crore, generated internally, will open the first two outlets in Bangalore and Ahmedbad, followed by Delhi, Mumbai, Pune and Hyderabad. Over the next four years, the company will have 50 outlets, including some in Tier-2 cities and raise additional funds from financial institutions, Manipal Cure and Care's Chief Operating Officer, Somnath Das , told reporters here on Tuesday. Manipal Cure and Care to Launch in Mumbai in May

Manipal Cure and Care [MCC], India's first health and wellness centre, today announced its plans to launch its operations in Mumbai in May with the launch of its first two centres in the city. Dr Ranjan Pai, CEO, Manipal Education and Medical Group, and Somnath Das , COO, Manipal Cure and Care also received today the ACHSI (Australian Council on Healthcare Standards International) certificate from Brian Johnston CEO, ACHSI, in the presence of Giridhar Gyani, Secretary General, Quality Council of India. MCC is the first retail healthcare company in India to receive the ACHSI certification. ACHSI granted certification to MCC after a team of 2 surveyors did the pre-audit, followed by a team of surveyors who accessed 13 standards with 45 criteria covering clinical, support and corporate areas. Manipal Group to set up wellness chain

Bangalore: Manipal Cure and Care Pvt. Ltd (MCC) plans to set up a so-called wellness chain that will have consulting doctors who focus on preventive health care.   Somnath Das, chief operating officer, MCC, said the company plans to hire doctors with four-five years’ experience to advise customers. “We are not going to operate as a hospital. We are not treating patients. We will offer health check-ups and advice, health-care products and beauty treatments under one roof. As health consultants, we would provide preventive monitoring with a focus on wellness and not on illness,” said Das.   The company, part of the Manipal Group, which has interests in education and health care, runs one outlet, branded Cure and Care, in Ahmedabad. It plans to open the second in Bangalore next week and, according to Das, it will open seven more across cities such as Pune, Baroda, and Mumbai by 31 March.
